SUNOCO PURCHASES CRUDE OIL FROM ALGERIA
TERROR-FREE OIL INITIATIVE EXPRESSES "TREMENDOUS DISAPPOINTMENT"
(Coral Springs, FL) The Terror-Free Oil Initiative (TFOI), an organization that recognizes and
promotes gasoline companies that
do not purchase oil from the Middle-East, has expressed its tremendous disappointment in Sunoco, Inc. for the company's recent
decision to acquire crude oil from Algeria. Algeria has acted as a safe haven for Islamic terrorist groups, most notably the
Armed Islamic Group (GIA) and the Salafist Group for Preaching and
Combat (GSPC).
Information concerning Sunoco's purchase of crude oil from Algeria is found within the May 2006 'Company Level Imports' report
on the website for the United States
Energy
Information Administration.
Joe Kaufman, spokesman for TFOI, stated, "It is more than a little disheartening to see one of the few companies that was
free from Middle-Eastern oil succumb to this temptation, especially when we were as supportive as we were of Sunoco.
We call on Sunoco to give up its connection to Algerian oil, so that its gas stations once again become 'terror-free.'"
TFOI will be monitoring the situation in the coming months.
Joe Kaufman is available for interview. E-mail: Joe@TerrorFreeOil.org.
